Shiner Videos

As part of my quest to find a good video solution for my website, I'm trying out Google Video.  The video quality is a lot better than the local tool I was using (Sothink Flash Encoder), but the video is a lot choppier. I think the choppiness of the video has something to do with the framerates not syncing up during the video encoding process on Google's end, but that may be because I took the video with my Treo 650 cell phone.  I'll try some more videos with my regular camera later and see how those turn out.

New Site Features

I recently added some new features to the website that will hopefully make your experience more enjoyable.  The main things I was looking to do were add a commenting system to the articles and make it easier to find interesting articles.  The comment system was a simple add-on of a module to the site, but increasing the navigability of the site is a constant activity.

If you've been reading my blog within the past few months, you've probably noticed I've been on a Search Engine Optimization (SEO) kick.  While a big part of this is to increase search engine ranking and traffic, the other part is to increase the quality of the site.  If google likes your site, people probably will too.  To some of you this may seem a little odd, but it's true.  I won't go into the details in this article, but google has a lot of features in its algorithms that make sure your site is as search engine popular as it is socially popular.

I saw this in the mall the other day and I thought it was one of the most ridiculous things I've seen in a long time.  Yes, it is an iPod vending machine.  You swipe your credit card and punch in the number of the item you want. I really don't have much to say about it, but I wanted to share it with everyone.

Modded Wii - Now in Black!

It didn't take long for me to mod the Wii. The day after I bought my Wii, I bought the modchip online. The mod chip didn't make it until a week after I received the actual console, but as soon as I got the chip I set out to install it. The installation of the chip is extremely simple and straightforward, but taking apart the console and putting it back together may be a bit tricky for some. I bought a black full-replacement case so that my Wii would match the rest of my equipment and that part of the installation was the most tricky.
