I was trying to add my grandparent's e-mail to my Gmail contact list, but gmail kept telling me "Please make sure the email address you entered is valid."  I figured it probably wouldn't import it because they were using something of a non-standard address.

The culprit here happens to be the ampersand sign.  I realized that gmail also has a contacts import option which allows you to import contacts from a CSV file. A CSV file is essentially just a text file with values separated by commas. It essentially allows you to put tabular data into a non-proprietary format.

Editors Note: There is not supposed to be a space after the ampersand, but for some reason my blog software keeps adding it.

A coworker just sent me a link to this article about a girl getting kicked off a flight for wearing clothes that were too skimpy. This just adds to the list of reasons why I don't like Southwest.  If you want to read more about why I don't like them, check out the side story from this old article I wrote. Here's the link to the article on MSNBC's site:

I thought the outfit was kind of hot.  I wouldn't have said "you can't get on the plane because your clothes are too skimpy" but I probably would have said "you can't get on this flight because your face is beat." That girl looks like she just walked off the football field after a rough tackle.

Here's a quick tip for verifying local group membership.  This is a quick and easy way to see if someone is a member of a local group. I use this when trying to quickly see if someone is a member of the Administrators group. Simply open the command prompt and run the following code:

I saw this on Letterman the other night and couldn't help but crack up. She was trying so hard to come up with something that had a global perspective.

Question: "Recent polls have shown 1/5 of Americans can't locate the US on a world map. Why do you think this is?"

South Carolina: "I personally believe that you as Americans are unable to do so because (um) some people out there in our nation dont have maps. And I believe that our education, such as South Africa and the Iraq, everywhere like such as, and I believe that they should-- our education over here in the US should help the US, (uh-b-err-uh) should help South Africa and should help the Iraq and the Asian countries so we will be able to build up our future... for our children...."

As part of my quest to find a good video solution for my website, I'm trying out Google Video.  The video quality is a lot better than the local tool I was using (Sothink Flash Encoder), but the video is a lot choppier. I think the choppiness of the video has something to do with the framerates not syncing up during the video encoding process on Google's end, but that may be because I took the video with my Treo 650 cell phone.  I'll try some more videos with my regular camera later and see how those turn out.
