Google Chrome – No Plugin Available to Display this Content

 

Google Chrome was recently released and it seems that a lot of people are having questions around why they can’t access content on certain webpages. What I’ve found is most of those webpages that people are having trouble on are pages that are running Java applets. For example, my fullscreen slideshow applet in my gallery (G2) uses a java applet. For those of you having issues with webpages where you are getting a yellow box with a plugin icon in it that says “No Plugin Available to Display this Content” you might try downloading the latest version of the Java.

That version of Java happens to still be in beta, but it appears to be working great for most people. Specifically,Google Chrome requires Java version 6, update 10. You can download the latest version of Java from this website:

http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/ea.jsp

For those of you who aren’t sure what to download, you probably just need the Windows Online Installer which you can download / run from this direct link: JRE Online Installer – Note: most people can uncheck the OpenOffice checkbox which will install Sun’s (free) version of Microsoft Office.

    the java update worked great, after i restarted browser, and allowed symantec to run it. thanks a lot. I use it to play satellite loops like national weather service.

    So far, I’m basically please with Google Chrome. It has some work to do, and I have more to run it through. I’ll be back soon with more on add-on work arounds and Google Gears, and whatever else I uncover in the mean time.

    I set Google Chrome as my main browser and have been using it since the day it was released. Today, I reset my default browser back to Firefox. I’ve had a lot of issues with things rendering funny in Chrome, boxes being auto-populated when they weren’t supposed to, multi-monitor support lacking, and other odd things happening. It looks like they have a pretty strong start at getting a new browser with some great new features out, but it just beta software and has a bunch of issues… I really hope they can significantly improve the next version, but we’ll have to wait and see.

    doesn’t work at all with oracle web enabled application specially oracle 10g release 1, I tried to run the jinit.exe but still the content can’t be found.
    I hope that any one could find a solution so that I can use this new chrome browser.

    I would recommend getting your Java updates directly from the Sun Microsystems website per the link in the original article. Downloading files from untrusted sources (such as rapidshare) increases your exposure to viruses and other malware. I have not tested the link from naser so I can’t say if it’s legitimate or not, but I would still recommend downloading directly from Sun’s website.

    I formatted by PC and installed Google chrome, Firefox and IE7 to run “ORACLE DEVELOPER”. It did not work at all for all browsers. Please help !!

    As per this weblink I installed java in my pc but still the error remains same I am still getting the error no pluggins avaialble to display the content.
    So , Do i need to install any other thing for getting this issue fixed or after installing the software i need to restart the computer after downloading the java application.

    Plz Help me out

    i don’t understand newer player (older) Why do i get Messages about no Plug in? this AM i finely got into Games but later we were back to no Plug in can get to face book home page but not download to games cant do anything with Internet lately it don’t connect at all or starts then disconnect

    When I visited it, it showed an embedded You Tube video, and in about a split second it said no plug ins were available. I refreshed, and this time it stayed there. When I tried to play the video, the same thing happened.

    Hey everybody! I got the no plug-in message as well. Download the Flip4Mac on Apples homepage. With that you can play Windows Media video on your Mac, here’s the link:

    I think there’s a free newer version, but I couldn’t get it work. This version worked for me!

    hey , i wanted to play a video today but they say no plug in so i downloaded java n updated my adobe but they was nthg chg , do u think u hav a way ?

    If you have the “RealPlayer HTML5Video Downloader” extension or something similar, disable it, worked for me.
