Green Belt Certification

Like many companies in the world, my company has a focus on the Continuous Improvement Process (CIP) and we have multiple “belt” programs. The “belt” program parallels that of karate to some degree. We have Yellow Belts, Green Belts, Black Belts, and Master Black Belts. In this blog post, I’ll talk a little bit about my company’s CIP program and where I fit in so far, but I won’t get into much detail on any of the tools.

Our Yellow Belt program gets you introduced to the program and gives you a taste of what six-sigma is, what tools are used in the CIP world, what Lean Practitioning is, etc. The trainers try not to go into to much detail, but they give you a good overview of a lot of the tools and try to hit the key points on some of the easier tools to understand, like 6S and 7W (aka. Muda). The yellow belt class is a good way to get people interested in improving things within the organization. It helps people think about things they may have normally taken for granted and gives them some ideas around tools they can use in their area.

Modded Wii – Now in Black!

It didn’t take long for me to mod the Wii. The day after I bought my Wii, I bought the modchip online. The mod chip didn’t make it until a week after I received the actual console, but as soon as I got the chip I set out to install it. The installation of the chip is extremely simple and straightforward, but taking apart the console and putting it back together may be a bit tricky for some. I bought a black full-replacement case so that my Wii would match the rest of my equipment and that part of the installation was the most tricky.

Weee! I got a Wii!

My nephew, Braden, was going to be coming in town this past weekend and I really wanted to get a Nintendo Wii so we could have something fun to play.  At least that’s what I’ve been telling everyone else.  I think the other half of it is Laura said it is a gaming system she would actually be interested in playing. I spent a couple hours on Friday calling places and trying to find one.  I searched high and low, but couldn’t find anywhere that had them.  It seems like every time a store got them in stock they would sell out within a matter of hours.

Camaro for Sale

Camaro For Sale Sold!

Sadly, I must sell my car. Normal maintenance and maintenance specific to the camaro has been completed on a regular basis.

The car sometimes takes a second to crank over, but it's been like that for a while (nearly 5 years) and it doesn't affect the car when running.  The motor was replaced at 62,000 miles by GM and the odometer reads 172k, which is why the car was listed at 110k.

  • On that note, I have a file full of dealership receipts and various paperwork that will come with the car.
