This is a test of the 1.5 url rerouting with sh404sef. This is the first test with the new Joomla 1.5 content editor from the front-end of the website.
I’ve had to fix quite a few things and migrate to some new components, but it really hasn’t been that bad.
The biggest issue was that mxComment has issues with sh404sef (and Joomla 1.5 URLs in general). I decided to download JomComment to see if it had any issues with 1.5 and it works like a charm. I should also note that JomComment recently added support for the import of comments from MxComment, which made the transition a breeze.
That being said, the URLs I imported from my 1.0.15 installation of sh404SEF will not work on Joomla 1.5 because they are using Joomla 1.0.x url formatting. Luckily, my old urls followed my section / category hierarchy pretty well, so I just needed to tweak a few names here and there to get things to sync up exaclty. I haven’t done an exhaustive check of all the URLs, but with the spot-checking I’ve done everything appears to be working pretty well.
I also installed the latest version of the Gallery2 bridge, which didn’t require a lot of work because the component is bridged, not integrated… so all the data resides in the G2 database tables. I’ve used the new G2Bridge 1.5 component before and I’m really impressed with the new functionality and how well it fits within Joomla. I haven’t fixed the SEO URLs yet, but will probably work on this before moving the site to production.
The DocMan component was a simple upgrade. There is a Migrator plugin that made migrating the data easy. Once the site migration backup was complete, I simply imported the old content during the J!1.5 installation, then installed the new DocMan component and made some slight tweaks. (eg. to point to my old download directory)
There is now a new sitemap component for Joomla 1.5 called X-Map… which appears to be a derivative of JooMap. While this plugin doesn’t currently support G2Bridge or DocMan mapping, it will have to work for now. The sitemap isn’t really important to me, but I figured I should keep it. I’ll get around to looking into the G2 and DocMan integration sometime.
